Digital Doctor's ID

Legally compliant electronic communication with the Digital Doctor's ID

General practitioners, specialist doctors, hospitals: Many patients are treated at different places. X-rays, lab reports, results, and other documents are created as a result. Either the patient has to transport these from place to place or wait for slower mail delivery. Directly exchanging the documents of service providers electronically usually fails because of the special confidentiality required for patient data.
Telekom's solution centering around the Digital Doctor's ID demonstrates how it is possible to securely network doctors and hospitals without massive investment. Using an e-mail client, signature software and a card reader in security class 2, i.e. with an integrated keyboard, a doctor can electronically sign documents in a legally compliant manner. The certificates required for this are saved on the chip card of the Digital Doctor's ID. Together with the associated encryption function it guarantees secure document transmission by e-mail.
At the same time the Digital Doctor's ID is also used for added-value applications after secure log on to a portal, e.g. from a medical association. The signature software can be easily integrated into the practice management system (PMS) or hospital information system.
