The hospital information system iMedOne® and its functionality for the e-medication plan has been tested by gematic. The company confirmed the compliance of iMedOne®'s interface with the connector simulator, making iMedOne one of the first hospital information systems in Germany to achieve this. "Comprehensive digital access to patient information while observing the stringent conditions of healthcare data protection is a basic prerequisite for the digitalization of the healthcare system," says product manager Dirk Hoffmann. "The confirmation of the iMedOne® e-medication plan is an important milestone for our system and a further step toward the electronic patient file."
The electronic medication plan encompasses all relevant data for a patient's treatment and stores this data directly on the patient's health insurance card. Doctors, pharmacists, nursing staff and other healthcare professionals thus have up-to-date, fully digital access to the data at all times. "This significantly increases the safety of drug treatment," Hoffmann says.
Background: For the secure digital exchange of data, hospitals, practices and pharmacies are connected to a central telematics infrastructure that links all participants in the German healthcare system in a single network. The connectors coordinate and encrypt communications, ensuring the secure transmission of sensitive patient information.
