THE CHALLENGE
The aim of the IT partnership between the hospital operator and Telekom Healthcare Solutions is to operate the IT landscape of all facilities as a tightly integrated unit. Efficient working through the use of integrated systems combined with an open solution design for easy connection of subsystems is a requirement that is particularly important to the individual facilities. First and foremost, however, is the requirement to create an integrated and hospital-wide solution for all clinical facilities. Specifically: a modern and expandable hospital information system (HIS) with optimal integration into the administration system. Because the economic cost and performance control must be guaranteed over all facilities at all times.
THE SOLUTION
After a detailed planning phase, various solution components were introduced in the hospitals of the Katharina Kasper Gruppe, which have been further expanded and maintained for more than ten years. At the management level, an integrated SAP-based outsourcing solution was introduced, covering the following areas: Financial accounting, controlling, materials management and logistics as well as patient management and invoicing. The operation of these SAP applications was ported some time ago to the Dynamic Healthcare Center (DHC) platform in the Deutsche Telekom Data Center in Frankfurt. The Dynamic Healthcare Center combines technological advances with scalable, dynamic services based on Deutsche Telekom's high security standard. This applies to migration through to the broadband connection and the entire operation. Deutsche Telekom is the central service provider and assumes responsibility for reliable operation throughout. In addition, the iMedOne® HIS has been introduced as an autonomous application in the wards and in the functional areas of the individual hospitals. The iMedOne® HIS can run on top of the standard SAP patient management and invoicing solution, and interacts with SAP via bi-directional, intelligent interfaces.
CUSTOMER BENEFITS
With this integrated turnkey solution, the individual clinics and the parent company obtain hospital-wide availability of all data for the business management of the clinics and operating facilities. The continuous integration of the individual modules and systems also results in transparent cost and revenue reporting. The operation of SAP applications on the DHC platform also ensures operational stability, compliance with legal requirements, data security and investment security. The key advantage of this one-stop solution is the integrated workflow. The individual hospitals and operating facilities have access to integrated processes and a uniform working method. In addition, there are numerous expansion paths for the iMedOne® HIS. In particular, iMedOne® Mobile with mobile access to iMedOne® promises to deliver an innovative concept for the future.
